One of our better performances for sure. Opponent was decent team. Called Retirement FC but they were all 18-22 year olds with a manager that looked like Prop Joe from The Wire.

We was the better team throughout. Created more chances but they were always in the game. We had a few good chances early. Danny & Austin were first subs on and a bit more quality down the right from Austin over Hunter made a difference and Dave scored a rebound from a Stephen shot. Stephen & Cysco both went just wide before the half. They had some good chances but never really tested X. Adrian made a massive tackle to stop them from making it 1-1 just before HT though.

2nd half Still the better team but we was letting them creep back into the game. I had a pretty big tackle that if I didn’t make would of been a likely goal for them. Then they hit the crossbar from distance. That woke us up and Stephen played an unreal through ball to Mmunga for a nice finish and make the game comfortable at 2-0. Started getting the subs on and I think everyone came out at some point today apart from X in goal. Mmunga missed a sitter trying to take on the keeper instead of scoring an open goal. 3-0 Austin was running down the wing went to hit a cross to Dave and mishit and lobbed the keeper lol. Jem & Bennt both had big tackles to save a clean sheet which X deserved.

Jem got a yellow for shouting at the ref. Dave should have got a yellow for shouting at the ref. Meant to be the leaders out there lol. Tbf for Dave’s the ref did tell me he didn’t give it as it would have been a red card at 3-0 with a minute to go and not giving Dave a yellow was an acknowledgment of it being wrong.

Very good performance. Think if it was a bit cooler we could smash them 6-0 but we’re fighting the heat as well.

Team pretty much picked itself. We started well and was the much better team 1st Half. Everybody was a 8/10+ pretty much. 1-0 Benny made an overlap and got a cross to Smitty who hit the bar and it came to Dave to head in the open goal. 2-0 was a Smitty corner to Dave for a bullet header. We should have gone in at least 3-0 up and killed the game but their keeper made some good saves/shit finishes from us.

2nd half we was looking good the first 15 and should have scored but some poor mix of bad luck and poor finishing or final ball again cost us. X pulled of a massive save in what was their only real chance in the game to that point. But they made it 2-1 from the resulting corner. He came for the ball but didn’t call for it and that caused a bit of confusion and they scored the rebound. We should have immediately scored from the restart and Smitty fired just wide.

Then they was all over us for the rest of the game. They had 7 subs and we got tired. Especially in the midfield. Some terrible game managment at points particularly from Mmunga & Moises trying to dribble out or play 1-2’s on the edge of the box and constantly losing it.

They had a shout for a penalty when Mmunga slid in from behind. It looked like one to me but ref seemed to suggest it was a dive and the lads are saying it was a Pen lol. They scored but was a clear offside. We was defending hard as a team but just couldn’t keep hold cos everyone was SHATTERED. But we held on for the win.

Tough loss yesterday for the boys. Despite facing a strong team, we all know we can perform better. @RossGeorge earned Man of the Match for getting the game under control when it was potentially becoming out of hand in the 1st Half.

Our record in the new league is 4W-1D-3L. This is a more competitive and better organized standard of Football that we wanted. We have to play our part in that to. We want to be an aggressive, physical team that plays on the edge. We want to hate losing. But we can’t take our frustrations out on one another and especially not the opponent when they match our energy.

To be absolutely clear, the league has a zero tolerance for fighting. Fines and suspensions are likely coming. Repeat offenders will get permanent ban from playing and there is nothing Ross, myself, nor anyone else can do to change that. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Summary:

We scored very early. Mmunga got hacked down for what could have been a red card but the ref wasn’t going to give that after 2 minutes. Nicks free kick into the box fell to guest Igor to put us 1-0 up. They had most of the possesion 1st Half but we were very comfortable and disciplined. Let them make mistakes and were deadly on the counter. Stephen & Dave sending us in 3-0 up at HT.

2nd half we took control. Nick & Dave put us 5-0 up. Then the game got a little chaotic as the heat starting getting to teams with only 1x sub each.

•⁠ ⁠Our keeper let a cross go between his hands for 5-1.

•⁠ ⁠Stephen made it 6-1.

•⁠ ⁠⁠They scored from long range for 6-2.

•⁠ ⁠⁠I gave away a PK for 6-3.

•⁠ ⁠⁠CJ got his goal to add to 3x assists for 7-2.

Negatives

•⁠ ⁠It’s hot as fuck now and will be for the next 3 months.

•⁠ ⁠We needed to pull in 5 non regular players to field a team today. The league is pushing us to have a 23 man roster but we have used 39 players in total this season. At some point we’re going to have to make some tough decisions.

Summary:

Positives

•⁠ ⁠Refs were ready to go at 8am blowing the whistle so we can expect that moving forward.

•⁠ ⁠If I am the #14 of 15 players to arrive that’s a good sign.

•⁠ ⁠It was a fun competitive game and we played some great football at points, particularly in the opening 15 mins of each half.

Negatives

•⁠ ⁠We had sustained periods where we played too franticly.

•⁠ ⁠The final ball often lacked the quality or the runs in the box were poorly timed.

•⁠ ⁠Poll goes up Tuesday at the latest now we shouldn’t have to chase anyone for a response moving forward. 5x players took until Saturday to respond.

-We had 1x player drop 15 minutes before the game.

-We had 6x players not respond at all.

-2x we have kicked from the squad (that could probably be classed as a positive though.)

Summary:

Obviously not our best day today.

We started poorly, recovered and got ourselves 3-1 up in the 2nd half before falling away.

Not going to dwell on the negatives. In the end we were well beaten. Some of you put a real shift in, but if we’re being honest, Smitty is the only one that played above par today and gets MOTM for the 2 goals.

Positives

•⁠ ⁠The league responded as well as we could possibly hope to our complaints about when the game started, cutting the game short and the random players 1st Half.

•⁠ ⁠The idea that we might steamroll this league is well and truly over. We need to be ready to a tough game every week.

•⁠ ⁠Dave reached the 20 Goals landmark for the season.

Summary:

We wasn’t switched on for a tough game. They were. 1-0 down after 5 mins without really touching the ball. I think that switched them off a bit how easy it was and we grew back into it. We started to look dangerous on the counter but didn’t have the quality to make it count. Should of had a penalty with a foul on Mmunga. Then he won a Penalty a bit later with a foul from their GK that should of been a red as well but only a yellow. Nick scored it.

2nd half we went 4411 and was basically spurs 2nd half v United. Our best chances were offsides think we had one real attack from Hunter. We defended well and X made the saves he needed to when called upon.

Based on the team we had and how shit we started it was a great result. 2/3 stronger players I think we beat them. But assume they will have some additions for playoffs too.

key notes:

Cysco no showed. Jem, Mmunga, Moises, Adrian all rocked up late.

Most were a 6/10 or 7/10 except for Austin, Mmunga & Adrian but those 2 were late. Jem performance wise was a 8/10 as well but just annoying vibes throughout.
